Week Three...

Peru Temple

Yay! So many exciting things!!!

So. Here in the CCM we teach investigadores. These are actually just our teachers role playing. However, it is essentially the same thing. So we were teaching Manuel Revilla (our first investigator, our maestro Hermano Ibarra) last week and WE COMMITTED HIM TO BAPTISM ON LECCIÓN DOS. Awe. Some. And we were the only companionship in our district to get him baptized.

This week we have different investigadores, Maria del Carmen Soto and Cristhian Landivar (yes, spelled Cristhian). Maria is super depressed...but we were the one companionship to coax a smile and get her to fold her arms for the prayer of the three companionships who taught her yesterday.

Usually I would find these things to be a very understandable reason to utter the words

get on our level

However, I know and have felt profoundly that the Spirit is doing ALL the talking. We have such a great love for our investigators and such a desire to be instruments in the Lord´s hands, but I cannot credit our success to our own words or actions. It is all the Holy Ghost.

Hermana Ojeda and I have grown so much as a companionship this week. I love having a companion! Sometimes the lack of privacy and personal time is a little different, but I cannot bring myself to complain. She is such a beautiful spirit! And we are legendary for our dancing skills. We seriously just start dancing like fools all the time, and everybody thinks it´s the bee´s knees. Kind of.

Nevertheless.

It is pure splendor.

ALSO yesterday.

We went proselyting on Saturday. Like, knocking on actual doors of actual people in actual Perú. Can you believe that? We couldn´t. The people are so willing to talk about religion; it is exhilarating. And we made seven strong contacts as well as four people who are going to meet with the missionaries in the area. AH

I want to send pictures and that takes a long time so I will cut this short and write more details in a letter! I love you all, my family, my friends, whoever reads this who doesn't know me at all. I love you.

El don de lenguas es reál. I bear witness of that truth. Spanish is coming, poco a poco. Very slowly. But very surely.

Hermana Hewitt

P.S. We have a witch doctor in our district. Elder Nielsen´s loving mother sent him with a whole arsenal of the doTerra essential oils. AND a spellbook. Plus Elder Larsen gave me cough drops and Breathe to soothe my ugly cold (which is  almost gone - never fear). Plus have I mentioned how much I love my district? The only problem is when I am laughing too hard to focus on daily planning. And if I hear another joke about the siempres... someone will wake up with a llama in his room.
